Devlog #9: Launch and Levels
Introduction
Welcome to the ninth devlog for Subject 13. With this devlog comes the addition of two extra levels and a tutorial level, meaining the total number of playable levels in the game is now four. With this extra content now added, the only thing left to do is publicly release subject 13, Download and play now! Now in this devlog we will cover the creation of the extra levels, tutorial and cover the release itself.
Public Release
With the addition of additional levels the game is now in a playable pre apha stage, where the idea of the game can be tested. The game is now downladable and is ready for users to play and hopefully provide their comments, thoughts and any bug reports this feedback will then be taken into consideration upon any future development of this project.
New Levels
There are now a total of 3 levels in the game, each level can be unlocked by reaching the star requirement on the previous level. Each level is designed in such a way that harder challenges are intoduced in a manageable way so the player doesnt feel lost. To help the player not feel lost each level has a into showing the layout of the level the player is about to play to further help aid the player.

Tutorial
On initial launch of subject 13, if the game has never been launched before, it will open into the tutorial scene, this is so new players who likely dont know the contols can learn to play without having to look around in the menus.
Once in, the player will be guided through the movement, gravity flipping and shrinking abilites. This is done by delibratly limiting level design and visual popup text prompts to aid the player.
Upon the tutorials completion it will set a PlayerPrefs
value, so subsequently opening the gmae results in the level select screen being displayed. However the tutorial can be replayed at any time from controls tab in the main menu or pause menu.

Game Overview
Over the last nine devlogs a lot of features have been added. The project has come from a physics prototype to a publicly playable prototype with art, UI, save/load, softbody slime physics, limited levels, dynamic lighing, resolution settings and a tutorial as well lots of other smaller features that when all put together make for a great feeling and well rounded game.
So what happens next?
Firstly, thank you for reading another devlog! The next steps for this project greatly depends on how well the playable protoype is recieved and user feedback. So if you want to see more future updates and development leave a comment with your thoughts about the game, any bugs you found and what you'd like to see added!
